The Story

Born from the ashes of the burgeoning rock scene that was the 2010's in Queens, NY, came Chuck W. His distinct drumming and production style was helping propel a tiny 3-piece band, formed with High School pals, into the underground music landscape. That band fell apart for numerous reasons; pomposity, poor work-life balance, and a singer who refused to take anything seriosuly.

With a chip on his shoulder, and plenty left to prove, Chuck forged on, band or not. This is how Chuck W. was born. This is still what drives Chuck W.'s music forward. Last, it is why he will never stop. There may be gaps of time here and there, but Chuck W. a'int going anywhere. .

“The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what you share with someone else while you're uncool.” - Lester Bangs

Thank you for your witty one-liner there, Lester. I strongly agree with your statement and, one day, hope to grow up to be just like you. The only problem with that is I think I'm older now than you were when you died. Either way, I still aspire to be certain parts of you.

Methodology

EXPERIMENTATION

No idea is too wild. The studio is a laboratory where sounds are deconstructed, reconstructed, and transformed into something entirely new. It is where convention comes to be embraced for merely a moment, only to be brutally murdered on the cutting room floor.

AUTHENTICITY or is it better as ORIGINALITY?

No AI here! We make bars, beats, and tunes with old fashioned ingredients, sourced sometimes from instruments with previous homes overseas, but always certified fresh for your listening pleasure.

HI-TECH CURIOSITY

While I'm not a computer programmer in the slightest, technology has always been a valuable tool in the creation of Chuck W.'s music. Technology is not something to shy away from simply because you label yourself only a musician. Analog is amazing, but why limit yourself by excluding the digital side, or vice versa? Technology deserves to be destroying, polishing, and placing together all sorts of sounds in the name of creating a unified whole.

LOTS OF GEAR

There's a lot of schools of thought on how much equipment you're supposed to own. The prevailing argument is that you should grab the manual (agree) and plug away on one synth for so long that you know it front-to-back (disagree). The Chuck W. school of thought is to obtain a bunch of gear, work towards understanding the pieces of equipment as a unified unit (not one-by-one), and refine to taste. There's no right or wrong, just an approach.

The Mission

To always remain blissfully ignorant, in vocabulary and otherwise, to the existence of words in the English language such as, 'Quit' and 'TURN THAT DOWN!'
